Who’s homeless?

The Australian Bureau of Statistic data about the 2016 Census, released in March www.abs.gov.au/lookup showed that the homeless count has risen 4.6% in the past five years, from 105,000 to 116,000 people.

This report from Wesley Mission discusses ‘Australians’ perception of homelessness, its causes and the solutions to end homelessness’ and notes that ‘6 in 10 people accessing homeless services are female,  24% of homeless people are youth (aged between 12-24) and nearly 60% of homeless people are aged under 35’.
