Refugee Week 2015

The National Council ofRefugee Week Logo Churches in Australia (NCCA) has invited all Australian Christians to participate in a national Day of Prayer and Fasting during Refugee week 2015. Refugee week runs from June 14 to June 20. As Sponsors of Refugee Week 2015, The Salvation Army Australia Southern Territory is happy to set aside June 14 for this purpose.

I call upon Salvationists and friends to join us on this significant day of prayer and fasting. The General Secretary of NCCA, Sr Elizabeth Delaney, said, “For all who believe, the combined prayer of Christians from all churches is surely powerful. This, combined with fasting – prayer in action – is a concrete witness both to Christians responding to the Gospel call to welcome the stranger and to our desire for unity expressed through common action.”

The Refugee Council of Australia has chosen “With courage let us all combine” as the theme for Refugee Week in Australia for 2015. Will you join us in making this a week when we mindfully focus on the needs of our neighbours who have courageously left all that is familiar to begin new lives of hope and peace? Will you join us in giving thanks to God for the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society and in praying for wisdom as together we work for the liberty and security of all people?

Sincerely,

Floyd J. Tidd
Commissioner
Territorial Commander
